Lydia Roscoe created A Beautiful Life to support independent British brands, we asked her How She Does It?

Lydia Roscoe is a true beauty insider having worked in practically every aspect of the beauty industry throughout her career. Lydia has an uncanny knack of searching out niche beauty brands and through her latest venture, A Beautiful Life, she has created an online retail space like none other.

With a strong desire to support independent British beauty brands, Lydia founded A Beautiful Life to take the guess work out of shopping online for beauty products. There’s a carefully curated selection of brands and products to choose from on the website, and an excellent Editorial section packed with beauty and wellness information.

Lydia has overcome illnesses and accidents throughout her life, including being diagnosed with Epilepsy, but nothing stops her enthusiasm and passion for life. I can honestly say I have never seen Lydia without her radiant smile. This is how she does it….

Current job

Founder & Director, A Beautiful Life, British Beauty & Lifestyle

Three products every woman should own

Dry Shampoo, Rotating Hot Air Styler, Seamless nude underwear.

My signature style is

I’m told it’s stylish, classic and elegant, and usually involves a pair of skinny jeans with a top and matching blazer or trench coat with either casual/smart pumps or ballet flats (or boots in the Winter) – and always lots of black, beige and grey (I’m not very good at colour).

Recent splurge

A Reiss dress and a Hobbs trench coat.

Favourite way to spend time

Shopping or being on holiday in the sun. I love swimming in the ocean and feeling the sand between my toes.

Biggest myth about getting older

That life stops! That’s only if you want it to…my Mother taught me that.

Favourite female icons

Coco Chanel, Audrey Hepburn, Joanna Lumley (both herself and as Patsy)

Trend that should come back

Dressing up more! It seems we dress up less and less now and casual/gym wear is now an every day option. I am of the old school desire to get dressed up and always look like you’ve made an effort.

Trend that shouldn’t

Definitely a perm! I begged my Mum to let me have one but when I look back at the photos now I’m horrified.

How do you relax

A glass of Prosecco or red wine and spending time with my Husband on the sofa.

Accomplishment you are most proud of

Launching A Beautiful Life – every day I amaze myself with what I have been able to achieve and my passion and determination to succeed.

Beauty tip your mother taught you

Drink lots of water and always moisturise.

I don’t leave home without

My phone and my medication for my Epilepsy, and much, much more if I’m taking my big handbag (that contains too many things to mention).

Guilty pleasure snack

Crisps for sure – I can easily devour a big bag of Kettle Chips if they’re in front of me.

Always in my fridge

Milk and Prosecco and probably cheese.

Product that should be invented

Waterproof mascara that’s easy to remove. My eyes water a lot so I really need a waterproof mascara, or I end up looking like a panda, but the effort that goes into removing it can’t be good for the delicate skin around my eyes.

Perfume named after you would be called

Dreamer or Princess (if you asked my family or friends).

Gym bunny or yoga disciple

Neither (I don’t exercise nearly as much as I know I should).

Favourite saying

In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different (Coco Chanel) or Cape Diem (seize the day)

Secret to life after 40

Embracing the freedom to do what you want without worrying what other people think. And being happy, smiling and laughing a lot!
