Discovering women’s fragrances at parfumdreams

Fragrance has the power to transport us to another time and place. It can remind us of happy days and people past. My first bottle of Chanel No5 at age 11 was a love token from a boy. Little did I know at the time the history behind this iconic fragrance. Maybe I would have cherished it more and splashed it a little less. It started a passion and love for fine fragrance.

I lavished my entire first pay packet on a bottle of Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche in 1976. The bottle, so different from my expectation of a perfume bottle epitomised the era. Bold, bright, and fashionable, and that’s exactly how I felt wearing it.

This was the start of what I now know as a fragrance wardrobe. A scent for every occasion or as my moody takes me. A lighter scent for summer when the days are longer and clothes lighter. Something more woody, with a hint of amber and musk to warm the body as summer slips away into autumn. A sensual perfume for those Christmas parties when you want to be remembered for your wit and charm but also for your lingering scent. Let them be reminded of you whenever they smell it.

My fragrance memory is strong, the merest hint of Estée Lauder Youth Dew and I’m transported back to sitting on my mother’s bed watching her dress for an evening out. Aramis will always remind me of my father and Anais Anais of my sister. 4711 Original Eau de Cologne can take me back to holidays in France as a child. French perfume being a favorite from such an early age and a French pharmacy is my idea of heaven.

But these are fragrances of my past. I now allow myself to discover new fragrances at parfumdreams. Here I can indulge my love of scents while discovering over 850 brands. Whether I am looking for Perfume, Eau de Cologne, or something a little more intense like an Extrait de Parfum, I know I will find it amongst the wide selection available. You can often find me here taking a sensory journey and learning more about fragrance dilution and choosing which new scent I’ll be wearing in the following season.

Montale Extrait de Parfum Intense Rose Musk from parfumdreams

Montale Extrait de Parfum Intense Rose Musk has caught my attention. The notes of lemon, rose blossoms, amber and musk sound perfect for those winter days when I need reminding of summer.

But then I am also taken by Oriental fragrances, and Ombre Oriental by Jean-Charles Brosseau with its beautiful bottle and warm spicy oud, patchouli and amber notes, sounds so perfect. I’m visualising myself wrapped in cashmere next to a log fire as the warmth carries the fragrance into the air.

The unfolding of the three-note fragrance composition means that as a fragrance works in harmony with your skin, the notes will change while you wear it. Starting with the head, followed by the heart and ending with the base note. Finding a fragrance that you enjoy through each transition is so rewarding. There’s nothing nicer than realising that the gorgeous fragrance you can smell is actually yours.
