I was recently invited to learn more about the CosMedix skincare range. And to see how Medico Beauty are incorporating these products into some of the most effective treatments available to revitalise and repair ageing skin.
My treatment took place over two weeks, starting with a thorough consultation and skin analysis carried out by Medico Beauty expert therapist Renee Lapino. The first part of the treatment was the Luna Fusion and Benefit Treatment Medi Facial, which you can read about here.
Following my initial treatment I used the products in the Ageless Kit exclusively for 7 days. I found the products easy to use and my skin didn’t have any adverse reactions to Refine, a product containing a potent formula featuring encapsulated Vitamin A to help renew the skin’s appearance. The idea is that you use this product in advance of the peel so skin becomes accustomed to it.
When I arrived back at Medico Beauty’s Kensington clinic I was happy with the appearance of my skin but intrigued to see if it would look very different after the Benefit Peel.
After close inspection of my skin, Renee did a double cleanse using Benefit Clean and then Purity Clean using the FOREO Luna Pro to thoroughly remove any last traces of makeup. The treatment starts much as the Medi-Facial did, with Purity Balance prep applied with an open weave gauze, and then Pure Enzymes massaged into the skin for two minutes and left for a further five. This works to gently melt away rough skin, revealing a softer smoother and younger looking skin below.
CosMedix products really do smell good enough to eat, the fragrance of the ingredients haven’t been lost in the formulation; you can distinctly smell the cranberries in Pure Enzymes.
Renee then mixed the Benefit Peel which works slightly deeper than Pure Enzymes to resurface the skin. It’s a potent mix of Vitamin C, Encapsulated Retinol and fruit enzymes which smells amazing and has a yellow appearance. To help activate my skin to repair itself, an LED red light was used while I relaxed for 10 minutes.
As the peel can safely go on working for a further four hours Renee suggested that if I was happy with a slight yellow tinge, she would just lightly brush the surface of my skin and leave the peel to carry on working. Before I left Renee applied CosMedix Rescue to my lips and around the orbital bone and with the FOREO Luna on the Anti-Ageing mode, she applied Mystic to the orbital rim of my eyes for three minutes. A quick spritz with Reflect SPF meant I was protected on my journey home.
The immediate effect was a much smoother appearance to my skin; the lines on my forehead were reduced and especially the deeper one between my eyes. But the biggest surprise was the following day and the day after that, my skin continued to improve. Pigmentation marks were much lighter, the clarity of my skin had changed, it was clearer and brighter, noticeably smoother in texture and felt much firmer to the touch. It’s hard to demonstrate how much better my skin looked with such small images, but you can clearly see the improvement of the line between my eyes and just how much wider and more lifted my eyes look.
The is no doubt that my skin has really benefited from both the CosMedix products and the Benefit Treatments, the effects can still be seen as I’ve been religiously applying SPF daily to protect my skin. The treatment I had was a light peel. If your skin had more sun damage or you have deeper lines and wrinkles there are products and treatments to address these.
When it comes to treating older skin you really do need the advice of an expert and in their hands you can be sure that the correct amount and strength of product will be used. I was delighted with the results of the CosMedix Benefit Peel and would recommend you trying this to really reboot your skin and take a few years off in the process.
The Benefit Peel carried out in the Kensington clinic costs £120 but prices may vary across the country.
