Have you ever wondered how many of the things in your ‘handbag’ are actually essential to carry around on a daily basis?

We women (and some men that have adopted the man-bag equivalent) carry around approximately 5.5lb in our bags every single day! That’s more than five bags of sugar, or a standard house brick – equaling one heavy handbag!

Carrying heavy bags on a daily basis can cause tension in our neck and shoulders, causing misalignment to our posture. However, you can ease the pain and realign with a remedy literally at your fingertips – never underestimate the power of a neck and shoulder massage treatment!

Or, if you need instant relief, a simple self-massage exercise can get right to the core of shoulder tension and help ease it gently and effortlessly; you can try it almost anywhere and at any time!  Follow Spa PR’s easy to follow tips and focus on the areas that feel most tense, and work slowly, deeply, and methodically:

1: Tilt your head back, with the palms and fingers of each hand squeeze the flesh at the base of your neck on either side of your spine. Slowly roll your head forwards, still squeezing your skin. Hold the stretch for 10 seconds.  Return your head to an upright position

2: Stroke your hands up and down the back of your neck to warm the area. Use the fingers of both your hands to make deep, circular pressures all around the neck area

3: Place your left hand on your right shoulder and squeeze the muscle. Hold the squeeze and rotate your shoulder backwards (slowly).  Repeat with the right hand on the left shoulder

4: Pummel your right shoulder with your left hand to bring fresh blood to the area. Support your left elbow with your right hand for comfort and repeat on your left shoulder
