The Maintenance Phase

A good night’s sleep makes all the difference to how you feel in the morning and I woke you feeling really well.  I do still have a really squeaky voice, it’s strange I don’t have a sore throat but my voice hasn’t come back.  My skin is looking good and I have lost 7lbs!

I would have thought having lived off only juice for three days I would be feeling hungry, or listless, but I wasn’t at all, I felt like I had as much if not more energy than usual, and there was no desire to get to the kitchen and grab some food.  I had the usual warm water and lemon and took my supplements, this time reducing the Clean Green, the Flaxseed Oil and at night the Super Cleanse.

To break the fast I had half a cantaloupe melon and several glasses of water, I am never far from a glass of water, and even though you are drinking several glasses of juice each day you still get thirsty, and you need to drink water to work with the Super Cleanse tablets.

At lunchtime I made a green salad of spinach, watercress and rocket with an avocado, which I found myself eating very slowly and carefully, time without food makes you appreciate it even more.  I had been really busy and hadn’t had time to juice in the morning, so in the afternoon I had apple, kiwi and lime; this is really delicious, very refreshing.

Tip of the day: Your taste buds will have come alive, adjust seasoning and dressings, you won’t need as much as usual.

We had dinner arranged with a friend in a local gastro pub so I knew that the evening was going to be a bit of a challenge, the good thing is that wherever you go there is a vegetarian option that will either work, or can be adapted to suit the programme.  While Mr M and our friend tucked into beef pie with mash and cabbage, I had a wonderful risotto made with pearl barley, chestnut mushrooms (I can’t actually remember if mushrooms are allowed, I hope so!) black cabbage and pine nuts.  It was quite dark so I didn’t notice the horrible marked dish until I saw the photograph; luckily the food was really good and the perfect meal for a cold winter’s night.

When the guys said they wanted dessert I really didn’t think there would be anything suitable for me, but there was a spiced poached pear – which I ate and left the lemon curd ice cream and biscuit that came with it – this was polished off by the guys.  For their dessert they had chosen a cheese board each, which had three cheeses, pickle, biscuits, apple and eccles cakes, followed by, wait for it, a brioche and butter pudding with salted caramel ice cream.  Because I hadn’t been eating for the past three days the risotto had filled me up and I didn’t need any more food so the desserts didn’t bother me at all.

There is something very rewarding about sticking to this programme, it empowers you and puts you in control of your eating and your health.

My clothes feel so much more comfortable for having lost those few surplus pounds, my hair is shiny and my skin clear.
