Day five and I am so tired!

After another disturbed night’s sleep I drag myself out of bed, still not feeling the bouncy new me that was promised, and jump straight into the bath, completely forgetting that I had to skin brush, not a good start.

I’ve lost 3lbs which makes me feel that maybe this detox is going to be worth it after all, my fear is that it’s all fluid and it will go straight back on after the programme finishes.

I have to go into Covent Garden and haven’t left myself enough time to juice and clear up before I go, so I grab some oats and blueberries, drink as much water as I dare and head out of the door.  I still have the dull headache, it’s not as bad as it was but it’s there all the same, and I have what still feels like the start of a cold, it’s not a full blown cold but I have a slightly sore throat, a cough and a runny nose, but I’ve stopped aching.  Being off the computer might have helped with the aches.  I did try to do some exercise and stretches yesterday but it made my head feel worse so I stopped.  Any excuse to stop!

I still had to keep drinking water to get the right amount for the Super Cleanse tablets, which meant that I was backwards and forwards to the toilet all morning.  I really didn’t feel great, so tired and with a cold, I also felt physically cold.  During the lunchtime workshop at BHive I had to apologise to Mary Foster for yawning all the way through her presentation, I wasn’t bored I really felt so tired.  Normally I would have stayed in town and carried on working but I couldn’t wait to get home, I was cold, tired and miserable.

Tip of the day:  Always put a plastic or biodegradable bag in the pulp container of the juicer

When I got home all I really wanted to do was go to sleep.  I have always listened to my body (my excuse and I’m sticking to it) so I went to bed for a couple of hours and a strange thing happened, not only did I have two hours blissful sleep where I really warmed up, when I woke up my headache had gone.  It was so nice not to have a thick head.  Although I had only had the oats and berries for breakfast I didn’t feel hungry, only once during the past five days have I felt hungry, I’m sure already my body is expecting less food.  Something else that has surprised me is that I thought eating mainly fruit and vegetables would have an effect on, how can I put this nicely, me toilet habits, but it hasn’t my system seems to have calmly accepted the change in diet.

As I didn’t juice in the morning I made some carrot, celery, apple and ginger juice, and blended this with some spinach, after drinking this I was full with no desire to eat, this is a good sign for the Power Phase where I will only be able to drink juice.

It was then a quick trip to the supermarket to stock up on more green veg and fruit for the weekend.  As I walked around Waitrose it dawned on me that I wasn’t actually craving any food, on a normal visit I would probably pick up an olive loaf or a potato and rosemary one to have with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, but I actually didn’t want to buy one, I thought bread would be one of the hardest thing to give up.  I bought meat and a chicken for the boys to have over the weekend, my diet was simple, lots of spinach, kale, carrots, apples, lovely looking organic tomatoes, I haven’t juiced tomatoes yet, peppers, cucumbers, anyone looking in my trolley could have guessed I was on a detox.

I still didn’t feel hungry, why was that, surely it can’t still be the effect of the Super Cleanse from the morning, usually I want to eat regardless of whether I’m hungry or not, especially if someone else is eating.  Thankfully Mr M has been cutting down himself and has either joined me in the snack and even taken to juice, provided it’s plain apple juice, I haven’t been able to persuade him to try anything green.  I really didn’t feel like cooking or even preparing much food so a quick bowl of hummus and some vegetables was ideal.

Only one more day until the Power Phase
