We’ve had an exceptionally good summer in the UK, probably one of the best for many years.  And as we head into autumn the weather is just starting to change.  Although the skies are clear and blue, the temperature is dropping rapidly.  As we are all trying to hang on to the last of the summer glow, Nikki Taylor, our Beauty Expert, is reviewing a tanning water which is simple to use and gives a natural tan all year round.

On the other hand, I am reviewing a tinted SPF, which has skincare benefits as well.  We also look at foundation, an innovative hair scrub, a super effective eye cream and the relaunch of an organic skincare brand.  Take a look at our video and if you have any questions about the product please fire away!

The products featured in the video are:

Isle of Paradise Medium Self-Tanning Water

Celebrity tanning expert, Jules Von Hep, has taken his ten years’ experience tanning catwalk models and Hollywood stars, and bottled it.  The new Isle of Paradise Tanning Waters are formulated with colour correcting technology which means you will get a realistic, natural streak-free tan.  Using organic tanning ingredients combined with avocado, chia seed and coconut oils, the products are safe as well effective.  Nikki chose the Green, Medium Self-Tanning Water which gives a natural colour within 4-6 hours.

Filorga Flash Nude [Fluid] SPF30

I have been asked several times recently, do I really need to wear a sun protection product every day during the winter.  The simple answer is yes.  If you want to protect your skin from sun damage you do need to do this every day, summer and winter.  To make life easier, I’ve been looking at tinted sun protection which will take me through the transition from summer to winter.  Rather than makeup with SPF, I prefer a skincare product that’s tinted.  This way I know that the ingredients are really going to be protecting my skin.  Filorga Flash Nude looks like a foundation but works like an SPF.  The combination of hyaluronic acid and Filorga NCTF, New Cellular Treatment Factor, which targets signs of ageing, means your skin is being repaired as well as protected.  There are currently only two colours available in the UK.  I chose the 01 Medium, which looks a little light when I first apply it but quickly warms to the skin.

Filorga Flash Nude [Fluid] SPF30 30ml £30.00 available from Lookfantastic and Marks & Spencer – to answer Nikki’s question, yes, Filorga Flash Nude is available at M&S!

Revolution Conceal & Define Full Coverage Foundation and Concealer

This lightweight, buildable foundation is formulated to suit every skin type and tone.  With a selection of 24 skin-true shades, the creamy consistency dries to demi-matte finish that doesn’t settle in fine lines.  Both the foundation and the concealer have a doe-foot applicator for more control and less waste, and the concealer is also available in a supersize, that’s three times larger than the original product.  Expect the concealer to hide dark circles as well as blemishes  and uneven skin tone.

Temple Spa Eye Truffle Complete Eye Rejuvenation

I think my quest for the perfect eye cream is over.  Eye Truffle has been created to target all the signs of ageing around the eye area.  That’s dark circles and puffiness, redness and pigmentation, and lines and wrinkles.  It’s a tall order for one product but, I am absolutely thrilled to say it does it!  Yes, it absolutely does it all, and my eyes have never looked better, seriously, not even when I was a younger.  Eye Truffle has smoothed the skin under my eyes and stopped me looking as tired as I’ve felt.  And, it’s not only me that’s raving about this eye cream, Good Housekeeping has awarded it 88/100!  Formulated with black summer truffle, champagne extracts, strawberries and gold and silver actives, this eye cream also helps to boost collagen.  I really can’t say enough good things about it.  Yes, it’s on the expensive side, but you won’t be disappointed, and you’ll use up every drop, and if you don’t, please send it to me because I will!

OUAI Scalp & Body Scrub

It’s no secret how much Nikki loves OUAI Haircare, a brand that she really does know inside out.  The OUAI Scalp & Body Scrub is a gentle exfoliator infused with natural sugar crystals to gently buff away dirt, impurities and excess oil, it can be used alone or added to your favourite OUAI shampoo.  Formulated with probiotics, the Scrub helps to leave a defensive barrier on the scalp and body to prevent damage caused by environmental aggressors.  It also smells heavenly!

S5 Organic Skincare Nourish Cleanser – Replenish Serum

Since this article was posted in 2018, S5 is no longer available. The range has been replaced by Adaptology

The S5 range of organic skincare was created to address five key stress, with five key serums – hence S5 – to answer Nikki’s question.

The five stresses are:

  • Stress and Lack of Sleep,
  • Pollution and Chemical Damage
  • Poor Nutrition and Digestion
  • Immune System Dysregulation
  • Biome and Skin Barrier Disruptions

I’ve been using several of the products and two that have stood out for me are the Nourish Cleanser, which has a fragrance that I simply adore, but it is also highly effective.  Formulated with 97% organic ingredients including, artic sea buckthorn, an oil that’s rich in omega 7 and 3, high altitude rosehip oil, papaya enzymes and sunflower, sweet almond, baobab, rosehip and cacay seed oils.  The Cleanser warms slightly on contact with the skin and efficiently breaks down makeup and sun protection products.

The other stand out product in the range is the Replenish Serum.  The gorgeous natural golden colour of this serum, like the Nourish Cleanser, comes from the artic sea buckthorn.  This antioxidant rich oil serum is packed with rosehip, cacay, macadamia, pomegranate, black cumin and jojoba seed oils.  The fragrance is wonderful, and I’ve been using it day and night and even dropping it into my foundation for extra glow and hydration.  My skin looks clear, hydrated, smooth and even toned.  Both the Nourish Cleanser and Replenish Serum are ideal for dry skin which is showing signs of ageing.
