I have small red patches or spots all over my chest, tummy and legs what are they?
These small red spots which appear during your 40s and 50s on your chest, torso and legs are likely to be Campbell de Morgan spots or senile angiomas.
What are Campbell de Morgan spots? We asked the internationally acclaimed plastic and reconstructive surgeon, Dr Marko Lens, to explain.
Campbell de Morgan spots are completely benign skin lesions. They are effectively cherry angiomas (clusters of small blood vessels-capillaries). They appear spontaneously in the middle age and the real cause for their formation is still not clear. There is no need for any treatment. However, they can be removed by cryotherapy, electrosurgery (burning by cauter) or with laser.
