For over 80 years Seven Seas has offered highest quality Cod Liver Oil to help supplement a healthy diet

Use of Cod Liver Oil dates back to the Vikings

Supplementing your diet with Cod Liver Oil can be traced back as far as the Vikings when they would consume the fish liver oil during the winter days which were short and with little sunlight.

Popularity for Cod Liver Oil continued to grow during the 1700s and 1800s when it was scientifically proven to have health benefits.  It was discovered that Cod Liver Oil contained vitamin A which supported growth, healthy eyes, the immune system and clearer skin.  And vitamin D, essential for bones, teeth and muscles.  Both vitamin A and D are fat soluble, which means that the body is able to store the vitamins and draw on them when needed.

Once Cod Liver Oil was accepted by the medical profession it was first used as a treatment for illnesses brought about by malnutrition and as a cure for rickets the bone disease.

Cod Liver Oil as part of the daily diet

In 1935 Seven Seas launched the first ever easy to take Pure Cod Liver Oil in both liquid and capsule form.  Soon after, and during the Second World War, the British Ministry of Food distributed free Seven Seas Pure Cod Liver Oil to pregnant women, nursing mothers and children up to the age of five.  They continued this programme until 1971 long after rationing had ended, knowing the benefits of Cod Liver Oil had on the growing child.  As a child I remember being given a tablespoon of Cod Liver Oil each day followed by a tablespoon of malt extract to take away the taste!

Live your #TRUEAGE

Although I’m no longer a child, I don’t actually feel middle aged.  Of course I might be being optimistic at 56 but I’m fitter and healthier than I was in my thirties.  My birth certificate might say I’m in my fifties but psychologically I’m much younger.  I didn’t start running until I was 47 and I can still keep up with my daughter.  This year I’m about to go skiing for the first time in 16 years and I feel better prepared and more confident than I did skiing in my twenties.

Seven Seas know that older people live very different lives to how they are perceived.  They know that I’m not unusual; that many people live life to the full and live according to their #TRUEAGE rather than one that society dictates.

We can still continue to feel young by keeping fit, eating a good diet and by continually challenging ourselves with new experiences.  A daily dose of Cod Liver Oil is an extra way to support your body, top up your natural resources as you get older and support your general health and wellbeing.

Seven Seas Simply Timeless Cod Liver Oil is a classic supplement, although it has a new fresh look for 2017.  Each capsule contains vitamin D to support normal bones and a rich source of essential Omega-3 fatty acids which help maintain normal vision and brain function.  A daily dose of 250mg will help us face up to any challenges.

Which Cod Liver Oil supplement to choose?

Seven Seas Timeless Cod Liver Oil

I’m going to be putting Seven Seas Simply Timeless to the test to see if a Cod Liver Oil supplement can boost my overall health.  I’m hoping to feel less fatigued during the winter months and to have my joints supported when I go skiing.

I’ll be taking a Seven Seas Simply Timeless Cod Liver Oil one-a-day capsule which contains Omega-3 Fish Oil with vitamin D.  The vitamin D will be especially beneficial during the winter months when we see so little sunshine in the UK.  This small capsule is full of natural goodness which is easily absorbed by the body; it’s also easy to swallow so I don’t need to worry about the taste!

I’ll be reporting back after my ski trip to let you know how I got on with the Cod Liver Oil and the skiing!

Where can I buy Seven Seas Simply Timeless Cod Liver Oil?
