There’s something reassuring about brands that you’ve grown up with. John Lewis, Boots, and Marks and Spencer spring to mind, but so does Playtex. I’m the third generation in my family to enjoy wearing Playtex lingerie. Playtex have been setting trends since they first appeared on national television in 1955. Although it wasn’t until 1977 that a woman first appeared in a television commercial shown from the waist-up wearing only a Playtex bra. Oh, how times have changed!
I doubt my Grandmother had the choice of gorgeous colours that we have now. I’ve been trialling the Playtex Bordeaux Flower Lace Full Cup Bra and Briefs. The deep wine-coloured set makes such a welcome change from black and when looking through my accessories, I realised it’s obviously a favourite colour of mine.
The Playtex Flower Lace Bra is underwired and beautifully crafted from delicate lace. Although I would normally choose a seam-free bra, the seams are so well stitched, they are invisible under clothes, this is something I always look for in a bra. The bra is non-padded, and the cups sit comfortably on your breast and don’t gape or pull. The straps are a generous width and don’t cut into the shoulders. The back is also generous and lies flat without creating those awful bulges that seem to appear under your arms as you get older.
I’ve found the bra to be comfortable to wear for the entire day, something that one should expect from a beautiful piece of lingerie, but all too often beautiful bras can actually be uncomfortable after you’ve worn them all day.
I have a real problem with unmatched underwear, so I’m delighted that Playtex have matching briefs. They are soft and stretchy with lace at the front and plain at the back, or should I say the rear! The fit is amazing, the briefs fit close to the body so don’t show under tight clothes, and they have the all-important cotton-lined gusset. The garments are true to size and the 32D bra was exactly as I expected, the fit is perfect. The medium size briefs fit my size 12 bottom perfectly.
Handwashing is the way to keep lingerie beautiful, I wash mine in Soak and the Playtex Flower Lace Bra and Briefs have retained their colour and look exactly the same as the day they arrived. Lingerie is normally an expensive investment but, I’m delighted that Playtex bras and briefs are really affordable, the Flower Lace Bra is £30.00, and the Flower Lace Briefs are £15.00.
If you are looking for comfortable, sexy, elegant, and practical lingerie, Playtex are definitely the brand to look for.
