The modern, ergonomic design of the Philips VisaPure makes this facial cleansing brush a pleasure to use.

Last year all I could think about was getting a facial cleansing brush.  It seemed like everyone was a talking about them, and the only person who didn’t have one was me.  Clarisonic was the brand on everyone’s lips so I had a demonstration of one and asked all the right questions.  Of course I wanted the top of the range, of course I would use it on my face and my body every day, and this was my reasoning for spending £179 on a gadget.  But I actually couldn’t bring myself to spend that much, it just seemed too expensive.

Where there’s a will there’s a way.  I converted my Nectar points and bought it through Amazon, after all points mean prizes and this way the Clarisonic didn’t cost me a penny.  Let’s forget for the moment how much I spent to get those Nectar points in the first place, at this point in time it was free.  The box arrived and if I’m completely honest I was underwhelmed.  I didn’t get the buzz (sorry) out of using it that I thought I would.  Although my skin felt very clean and slightly smoother, the Clarisonic was heavy and cumbersome to use, the cleaning head didn’t comfortably get into all the nooks and crannies, and as for the body brush I think I used it once.  The Clarisonic was banished to the bottom basket in the bathroom like a discarded toy.

So when I was asked if I would like to try the Philips VisaPure I really wondered if I should just politely refuse because I hadn’t made much use of the facial brush I already have.  Curiosity got the better of me, and like a small child at Christmas I couldn’t wait to get it charged up ready to go.

Before I even switched on the VisaPure it felt different.  The modern design and ergonomic handle of the VisaPure is light but perfectly weighted, you actually wrap your hand around it, rather than hold onto it.  The on/off button is perfectly positioned directly under your thumb, and the brush head is considerably smaller than the Clarisonic.  There are two settings, gentle and deep cleansing, I prefer the deep cleansing as it suits my skin.  The brush head rotates as well as vibrates which gives a lovely sweeping action to gently exfoliate.  The size of brush head means that it really does get into the side of your nose, around your ears, right under your chin, and it massages as it goes so even your muscles are having a workout.  Before we move away from the brush head the brittles are slightly raised in the middle I think this makes it easier to really get into those tricky areas.

Charging is simple; you just stand the VisaPure into the cradle and leave it overnight, it’s then good to go for about a month if you use it once a day, and a fortnight if you use it twice a day.  You do get two brushes with the kit one for normal skin and another for sensitive; they have caps that allow for drying them hygienically.

So the 64 million dollar question that you are waiting to ask me?  Have I actually used the Philips VisaPure?  Oh my yes I have, pretty much non-stop, I absolutely love this piece of kit, and it does everything that the Clarisonic didn’t.  It effectively cleanses, exfoliates and tones.  After you’ve used it your skin feels soft smooth and clear, and no flaky bits.  If like me you are lusting after a facial cleansing brush try the Philips VisaPure, it’s still an investment but great value for money if you get as much use out of it as I have.

The Philips VisaPure weights up well against the price of a facial, except it lasts a whole lot longer, and you get a mini facial every day!
