Tips From Widows is a practical guide to knowing what to do if your husband dies

The death of your husband or life partner can be devastating.  With careful planning and sound advice the transition to life on your own can be less stressful and upsetting.

Jan Robinson wasn’t prepared for the sudden and unexpected death of her husband Tony.  After a long and happy marriage and four children, Tony died suddenly from a heart attack.  Following his death, Jan asked every widow she met for two tips on how to deal with widowhood, anything at all that came to mind, whether financial, emotional or practical.  After speaking with two dozen widow’s over a 6 month period Jan knew she had the makings of a book, one in which she could share tips with other women to better prepare them.

Tips From Widows takes you through the stages of losing your husband or partner, and as Joanna Lumley says in the forward “This is a wonderful, beautiful little book.  It is like a quiet wise friend, full of comfort and practical counsel when your world has collapsed or changed beyond recognition”.

The book guides you through the practicalities of losing your husband, from forward planning before he dies, to how to deal with death, immediately afterwards, and years later.  This book of sound advice is most suitable to women over fifty who have lost their life partner, those with grown up children who will have to cope with living alone, possibly for the first time in their lives.

Jan Robinson’s approach to widowhood is positive, she explains that grief is an unmanageable emotion and the form it takes is unique to every woman whose husband or partner has died.  There are no set rules for coping with loss, she says “Being a widow is not an illness, you can’t take a pill and make it all better. You can only cope the best you can, and we all do it differently”.  Jan’s interpretation of a widow is a Wise, Integrated, Dignified, Optimistic Woman.

Tips From Widows is a must for a well ordered life for yourself, a comfort when you might need it, and a companion for when you feel alone.
